GP15 - Northern Pacific Meridional Transect

Overview

The U.S. GEOTRACES GP15 Transect took place in the Pacific Ocean aboard the R/V Roger Revelle. The ship departed Seattle, Washington on 18 September, 2018 and arrived in Papeete, Tahiti on 24 November, 2018. The Chief Scientist was Dr. Gregory Cutter (Old Dominion University, ODU) and the Co-Chief Scientists Dr. Karen Casciotti (Stanford University, SU) and Dr. Phoebe Lam (University of California Santa Cruz, UCSC).

        The Agenda for the workshop is available to download. The meeting was held in hybrid format, and with the large number of participants online, it was not possible to obtain a list of participants.  Altogether (in person and online) there were about 70 participants.

Cruise Information

To generate the cruise track map with Ocean Data View (ODV) use the linked file. Save the file to your computer as a .gob file (e.g. GP15_Stations.gob). How to use the file: within ODV, right click on a surface map an use  -> Extras -> Add Graphic Objects from file -> GOB File, then select the *.gob file you wish to use.

Proposal Preparation

Proposals to participate in the PMT should be submitted to the NSF Chemical Oceanography program by the 15th of February 2017 proposal deadline. To aid NSF staff in managing the GEOTRACES proposals, all proposal titles should begin with "US GEOTRACES PMT: ........" where the description of the proposed work follows 'PMT'.
