Process studies complement the U.S. GEOTRACES section cruises by providing an intensive, focused investigation of key biogeochemical processes controlling the distributions of trace elements and isotopes in specific ocean environments. As described in the GEOTRACES Science Plan, process studies target boundary inputs, biological uptake, remineralization, and other processes that shape TEI distributions but cannot be fully characterized from section data alone. The links below provide information on U.S. GEOTRACES process studies, including cruise reports, planning workshops, publications, and associated datasets.
