The second seminar of the GEOTRACES Online Seminar Series 2026, organized by the Early Career Scientist (ECS) Committee, will be held on May 26 at 15:00 CEST via Zoom. Topic: Trace metal input in polar environments.

The GEOTRACES Early Career Scientist (ECS) Committee has launched a new monthly seminar series bringing together senior scientists and early career researchers around shared themes in trace element and isotope biogeochemistry. Seminars run from April to November 2026.

GEOTRACES had a strong presence at the Ocean Sciences Meeting 2026 (22–27 February, Glasgow, Scotland), with four sessions on trace metal and isotope science, a live demonstration of the IDP2025 and DOoR portal at the SCOR Booth, and networking opportunities throughout the week.

The U.S. GEOTRACES community participated in the AGU Fall Meeting 2025 (15–19 December, New Orleans, Louisiana), with sessions on Antarctic continental shelf biogeochemistry and atmospheric trace element exchange across the air-sea interface.

The GEOTRACES Intermediate Product 2025 (IDP2025) was launched online on November 20, 2025, with webinars held on November 20 and 25 to reach a broader audience.

The GEOTRACES Summer School 2025 took place from November 17 to 21, 2025, in Cape Town, South Africa, training 36 students in the marine biogeochemistry of trace elements and their isotopes.

We are thrilled to share the success of the recent Chemical Oceanography Gordon Research Conference, Fingerprints in the Ocean, held from July 20-25, 2025, at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH.

U.S. GEOTRACES Pacific Meridional Transect (GP15): This special issue focuses on the 2018 GP15 cruise, which sampled along 152°W from Alaska to Tahiti.

The third edition of Treatise on Geochemistry is now published and includes an extensive chapter in Marine Geochemistry.

Every Friday from June 14 to July 5, access audio and transcripts of Friday Fascination on Antarctica, reported by Sofia Moutinho.

Fitzsimmons and Steffen (2024) show that hydrothermal vents affect seawater geochemistry through plumes that modify inventories.

A special issue of the Oceanography magazine celebrates 20 years of the international GEOTRACES program.
